Frequently asked questions
What's the best way to take tinctures?
It is recommended to add a dropper full to liquid such as water, juice or tea or directly in the mouth.
It is best to avoid eating or drinking anything else for about 30 minutes to allow for best absorption.
There is not much evidence that taking sublingually (under tongue) is beneficial for alcohol tinctures the way they are with homeopathic medicines therefor not something I advise of. Keep above the tongue to prevent burning if you want to take it without dilution.
Can children take tinctures?
Yes, they can be however for questions about safety for children please contact a naturopathic doctor.
Dosing is different depending on age and weight. The amount of alcohol consumed in each dose is very small and if this is a concern tea from dried mushroom or a Glycerin base tincture can be sought out. We hope to carry both soon.
What is a double extraction tincture?
Double extraction refers to a two-step process whereby the mushroom fruiting body is soaked in high proof alcohol; decocted in water then combined.
Because mushrooms contain water-soluble polysaccharides and more alcohol-soluble terpenoids, the double-extraction process is necessary for making a full-spectrum preparation.
Who shouldn't use mushroom tinctures?
While I believe most people should use mushrooms there are always situations requiring care. Always discuss with a medical practitioner if unsure. Some of note:
- Breastfeeding or pregnant women (edible mushrooms such as shiitake are a better alternative during this time)
- Diabetics should start with low dose or avoid Artist conk as the mushrooms ability to reduce blood glucose along with medication can be too much
- Blood pressure medication - some mushrooms can lower blood pressure so speak to your practitioner about low dosing
How long are the tinctures shelf life?
It is recommended once you open your bottle to consume within a year as it will start to evaporate slowly. Keep out of the sun.
Alcohol-based tinctures that are sealed can last 5-7 years if kept at room temperature or in a cool place and as soon as we bottle them they go into a cold room between 10-12C.
Why us?
Check our blog for full details on our process.
Transparency. We oversee the full cycle of the product, small batch and document everything.
Details. It's about the process not only the results. Here energy is everything, from structuring our water, to singing to our plants. (yes really!)
100% Fruiting bodies. No fillers, no GMO, no bs.
Sustainable and organic. Our mushrooms are not grown in labs, and are free of pollutants and pesticides. We believe they are impacted by their environment just like we are that is why we love our location so much as it is remote, far away from pollution and surrounded by ancient rainforest.
We know we are not perfect, and will continue to improve for the planet and how we work. Tree planting initiative has started in April 2025 where 2% of all proceeds go towards the forest and land management.
